this intricate brooch evolved out of a very simple thought of
the well-known and well-liked chrysanthemum motif
that has been a popular 'icon' with traditional Japanese kimonos, ceramics and other crafts.
we have personally loved the way the flower motif has been traditionally recreated so vastly in various styles.
and we thought about the possibility of creating something out of the real chrysanthemum
as itself without any embellishments or minimising.
the process started off with the modelling of the form on a 3 dimensional software,
recreating the individual petals of the chrysanthemum mathematically on the software
yet making it look as close to nature as possible.
KIKU was created as a brooch.
But because of the many suggestions we have received from our dear customers
we came upon the idea to create a small detachable hair comb attachment
for this lovely item to be enjoyed as a hair ornament!
the hair comb attachment is made in antique finished brass.
the comb attachment has two tiny rings on the top edge to which the brooch pin can be put through.
As and when you like, coordinating with the various style of outfit you are wearing,
you can now choose to wear KIKU as a brooch or as a hair ornament!
Now we present KIKU in a new pink color that has been hand-dyed
in such a way that the base of the flower is reddish in color which lightens to pink
towards the tip of each petal.
A lovely pastel pink with a intricate depth that works wonderfully with traditional Japanese kimonos
as well as wedding gowns or bridesmaid dresses!
This item comes in a Monocircus Gift Box.
