Mitsukoshi x Geidai (Tokyo National University of Art and Music )
Summer Art Festival 2014 Exhibition featuring young artists of the next generation
will be held at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi in Tokyo, on its 6th Floor
from August 13th till 18th, 2014.
MONOCIRCUS' Kazunori Takeishi,
who graduated from the Architecture Faculty of Tokyo National University of Art and Music,
will be exhibiting one of his brand new works at this grand exhibition event.
The said art work is an intriguing standing light fixture fabricated by 3D printing.
The work is being featured in the poster above at the far left bottom corner.
About 200 artists, below forty years old, will be exhibiting their paintings, sculptures, traditional crafts
and design work in this exhibition.
For information about the venue, please see this map.
On the 2nd to 13th of April, MONOCIRCUS was a part of an exhibition held
at the CUBE space on the 8th Level of SHIBUYA HIKARIE in Tokyo.
Here is a short report about the event.
In this event, artworks such as paintings, photography,
architectural drawings and 3D printed architectural models were exhibited.
And in the midst of these works, MONOCIRCUS's 3D printed accessories were exhibited
as part of the digital art series.
Specially for this event, we created a new fixture for displaying our work.
Whenever we are creating accessories, display fixtures or just about anything,
we are always inevitably concerned about the visual and artistic aspects of each work,
so somehow most of what we create have an inclination to look like sculptural art objects.
Below are some pictures to share with you about the recent event.
The above pictures were taken when we are setting up for the exhibition.
For this event, we carried and brought in all the components of the fixtures by ourselves
so the fixtures were made in parts for better portability.
From the ceiling hung a simple stainless steel wire display that was assembled by multiple U-shape wires.
This simple hanging system accentuated our 3D printed items that were packed in transparent ziplock packaging.
The samples for visitors to try on, touch and feel were displayed on a table.
This table was created by wrapping a white lycra fabric
over rounded containers placed over a rounded wooden plank that has been assembled in parts.
The intriguing surface, texture and overall supernatural look of this table display
had been very well received during the event.
We are very thankful and honored to be invited to be a part of this wonderful exhibition.
And we are very glad that we received many visitors during this event.
MONOCIRCUS will have its creations exhibited at the ARTNEXUS art x architecture x digital exhibition
on the 8th level of the SHIBUYA HIKARIE just above the Shibuya subway station in Tokyo
from this coming Wednesday, 2nd April 2014 till Sunday, 13th April 2014.
The exhibition features a multiplicity of works of art, photography, architecture and multimedia
by a selection of international renown artists and architects
And amidst this amazing selection of participants,
MONOCIRCUS is priviledged to be invited to participate in the event
with an exhibition of our series of wearable 'art objects'
for this limited period at this prestigious event.
On the opening day, 2nd April 2014 from 6PM,
Kazunori Takeishi, founder of MONOCIRCUS, will also be presenting an artist talk
about our past works and creative journey, as well as how we came to starting MONOCIRCUS.
This session will be accompanied by an introductory presentation about 3D printing technology
by Mr. Kobayashi from Materialize Japan.
It is going to be a wonderful and a rather rare occasion too to see and touch our creations
as well as hear about how they are actually being produced!

This is a report on 'FASHION MEETS DIGITAL', an exhibition event held at Hankyu Department Store in Osaka recently from February 26 to March 4, 2014, where MONOCIRCUS' items were featured, exhibited and sold.
In the large event hall on the 9th Floor of Hankyu Department Store, MONOCIRCUS had a 12-square-metre space in which we installed a simple wooden wall panel to display our packaged items with a large table on the side with our samples for visitors to touch, hold and try on.
The display panel has been specially fabricated to our design specifications for this event.
A simple video presentation of our items is being played in loop along with presentations of the other exhibits on the large LED screen in this event hall.
Other exhibits included digitally printed fabrics made into dresses, umbrellas, bags and other fashion items, along with digitally printed nail salon, virtual fitting experiential exhibit as well as 3D printing demonstration.
The exhibition was attended by a large number of visitors and attracted quite a bit of attention from the media.
It has been an honor and priviledge that we were given an opportunity like this to feature our work and we are very glad and thankful for this.
This opportunity came upon us when representatives from Hankyu discovered us at the Tokyo Designers Week 2013 in October last year. And this recent event in Osaka actually resulted in a new opportunity that is going to bring MONOCIRCUS to Tokyo this April!
MONOCIRCUS will be presenting some of our creations in an event, FASHION MEETS DIGITAL,
at the Hankyu Department Store in Osaka, Japan from February 26th till March 4th, 2014.
The event features fashion related products created by the latest digital technology
such as digitally printed fabrics and accessories and 3D printed products.
There are also interactive activities that enable guests to experience Virtual Fitting technology and Digital Fashion Analysis!
We created a new series of packaging for our items for this event,
with transparent ziplock bags printed with our MONOCIRCUS logo on the back.
The items are packed in such a way that they look like they are floating in the bag.
We are excited to see how they are going to look when they are put up in the wall panel
that has been specially made for the exhibition!
MONOCIRCUS will have more than 35 different series of our creations put on sale at the event.
You not only get to see the items and hold them in your hand, but you are free to try them on too!
I will be there on the opening day of February 26th to greet our guests!
so do drop by if you happen to be in Osaka!
Once the event has opened, we will be posting a report to show you how the event actually looks.
More information are being uploaded on our FACEBOOK page
so do drop by there too!
